Beginning back in October of 2010 the Department of Planning and Public Works which is a Division of Integrated Waste Management hosted a free tire recycling event. This was funded by a grant provided by the department a resources recycling and recovery. Over the course of the next several months five separate tire recycling events were held where a total of over 6,368 tires were collected by local residents and businesses. That’s great news for the Stockton area because it means that all of those tires didn’t end up in a landfill or dumped by the side of the road. Instead they were taken to a proper facility where they could be melted down and repurposed. But there was a problem that crept up and that was running out of grant money. In fact so many tires were brought to the previous events that last scheduled tire recycling event had to be canceled.Stockton Tire and Recycling Disposal
