This coming August, Roseville will be participating in the 30th anniversary of the National Night Out. This is a countrywide event to spread the awareness of neighborhood watch programs and thank local police departments. It’s also a terrific excuse to get out of the house and meet your neighbors and support the local businesses. Last year, there were 15,000 communities that held National Night Out events with over 37 million folks taking part in all the fun.
This is just one of the many fun things to do before the end of summer. Another fun thing you can do is clean out all the junk in your home. Wait… cleaning out junk is fun? Well, when you hire Junk King it sure is! That’s because with Junk King on the job you won’t be doing any hard work and will end up with a very clean home.
Suppose you have an old couch you want to get rid of. Do you have someone who can help you lift that sofa and take it out of your home without causing damage? Do you have a big enough truck to load the couch onto? Do you know where to dump the couch? Those are a lot of unknowns. You can take all the guesswork out of junk removal with a single call to Junk King. They are going to be providing you with your own work crew to direct. You just tell them what you want removed and watch how fast they take it away. The Junk King crew will be loading up your stuff on their own truck. It will be that big red one parked on the street. Once the truck is loaded with everything you’re getting rid of, the Junk King crew will head out to the nearest recycling center or charity refurbishing facility. They want to get rid of as much junk as they can before going to the landfill. In fact, if they can avoid the landfill all together the better off they’ll be.
This is a golden opportunity to finally toss out all those things that you trip over as you move from room to room. Maybe your garage is so full of stuff that you can’t fit your car in there. The Junk King crew can help with that. There really is no limit to what the Junk King team will take away. Whether it is something in your home or yard they will make sure it is removed fast and efficiently. Finish off the summer with a bang and with a home free of clutter.
It doesn’t cost anything to get an estimate for a kitchen remodel. At least it shouldn’t. If you put out the call to a couple of contractors you’ll be amazed at the variety of estimates you’ll be getting. Before setting up your first estimate appointment you should have some sense of what you want accomplished. You can get a pretty good idea of what your options are by taking a tour of a showroom at your nearest Home Depot. Then see what the contractors have in mind. You’ll want to find a contractor that is equal parts creative and someone you can work alongside without feeling intimidated. This doesn’t mean you’ll be swinging a hammer (unless you want to!) but you should be able to make adjustments along the way is something isn’t to your liking.
Here in the U.S., the day after Christmas is a lot like the day after Thanksgiving only in reverse. Instead of shoppers looking for bargains, a lot of folks are returning presents. That doesn’t mean there won’t be any sales to be had. In fact, retailers might just save the best prices for the end of the year. In England, the day after Christmas is known as Boxing Day. Tradition holds that this is the day when the Lords of the manor would give their servants presents or a Christmas box. It has evolved into a national holiday in Great Britain which makes for a bonus day after Christmas for all government workers.
As the song goes, “it never rains in California but when it does it pours.” We’ve recently been hit with some downpours which caused the National Weather Service to issue warnings to Sacramento and the surrounding area to be on the lookout for mudslides. This is the cycle of life out here in California. Wildfires in the summer and mudslides in the winter. Last summer the Chips Fire scorched over 75,000 acres near Belden. That means the potential for mudslides have increased in that area.
Sadly, storms and weather aren’t only affecting the east coast lately. Recently, four separate tornadoes that ripped through the Sacramento area caused some major damage. Roof shingles were torn off, trees were uprooted and fences were levels. The National Weather Service clocked the winds at speeds of up to 100 miles per hour. Although small on the scale of storms, they still packed plenty of wallop.
California Family Fitness is coming to K Street in a big way. This downtown area of Sacramento is getting a major makeover with the appearance of several shops and restaurants. Now a super gym is moving into the home of the former Rite Aid at 1012 K Street. This is a 31,000 square foot space that is going to make for an amazing gym. Here’s how they describe what’s coming in:
Ask any real estate agent what’s the number two selling feature for a home (aside from “location”) and they’ll probably tell you “central air.” But there is a drawback with central air and that’s those crazy electric bills. Unless it is a really efficient “smart” form of central air you’ll have no choice but to cool off the entire house even if you’re basically just using the living room and your bedroom. Believe it or not, you’ll find many folks who have a home with central air that opt for a unit air conditioner for a single room use. Sure, they’ll crank up the central AC when company comes over but for the most part it makes better economical sense to just keep a single unit running.
Don’t look now but the Sacramento real estate market is creeping back to full vitality. Want proof? RE/MAX has posted figures about returning agents and those numbers definitely ticking back up. Of course, they like to toot their horn a bit as they did with the Sacramento Bee.
