One of the sure sings you’ve crossed over into the “hoarding zone” is when a portion of your home has become unusable. Usually the first room to fall victim to this is your garage. Remember when you first saw your home? Wasn’t that big open garage a great selling point? I’m sure you had visions of keeping your car protected from the elements by pulling it into that cozy space every night. Then something started to happen: you began collecting stuff. We’re not talking about keepsakes but bulk items like a ping pong table or kayak or workout equipment. The garage was the perfect spot for all of that right? Now, your poor car can’t fit in its home and it forced to spend the nights under the harsh weather.
As soon as the junk in your garage pushes out your car that doesn’t mean you’ll stop collecting. Things have a way of accumulating. Stuff like old computers, televisions, sofas, chairs, mattresses and appliances don’t end up in the trash because they won’t fit. So, they’ll be stored in the spare room or up in the attic or a closet. How long before that junk overruns your home? Before it gets to critical mass, you need to reach out to Junk King Sacramento.
Junk King Sacramento is the local company that is part of a national franchise. Like other types of franchise businesses, Junk King has some high standards they must adhere to. These standards are about providing professional services at an affordable price. Junk King takes pride in their work and their solid reputation means everything to making them a successful business. Working with the Junk King actually means you won’t have to do a lot of work. All you need to do is identify the items you want remove and the Junk King crew will handle the rest. If you’re feeling the need to be industrious you can make it easy for the crew by pulling your junk out into the driveway or into a pile in the living room but that’s not really necessary. If there is a staircase to climb or garage to go into, the Junk King Sacramento crew will take care of that without any fuss.
Junk King can also clear out yard debris like piles of dirt, fallen tree limbs or construction waste left over from a remodel job. If it will fit on the back of their truck they can take it away. The good news is that everything will fit on the back of their truck!
On any given day you might find dozens of folks running the stairs over at Hughes Stadium or the Sacramento City College Stadium. They’re not looking for the best seats for the next big game. Instead, they’re indulging in a perfect workout routine: running stairs. Going up and down stairs has long been considered a great way to get in a little extra exercise. If you don’t believe that stair climbing is a good exercise then why does every gym have a Stair Master machine? If you have the opportunity at your workplace, you’ll probably a lot better off taking the stairs every day than the elevator. Of course, this is not meant to sky scrapers!
Over at a East Sacramento Catholic high school a group of students have gotten together to show what a little ingenuity and the power of the sun can do for their school. It was a group of students from the St. Francis high school that became involved in the school’s effort to save money on rising energy bills by adopting solar power as an alternative source for the campus. Thanks to their effort they were able to install a 253 kW solar energy supply system across seven buildings on the campus. This is going to reduce the energy bills and have a positive impact on the local environment. It’s also perfect example of how our kids often lead the way.
Are you a hoarder? If you’re instinct is to instantly say “no” then you’re actually could be exhibiting one of the major signs of being a hoarder which is denial. There are some other red flags you should be aware of in terms of determining if you have a hoarding problem. For instance, do you find yourself holding onto old magazines or newspapers? It’s quite common for someone who subscribes to periodicals to miss out on reading them. When that happens they end up piling those papers in that stack with the hope of getting to them one day. Unfortunately, that day never comes and instead the magazines and newspapers keep piling up. You need to consider all that news is now old news and there’s no reason to keep hanging onto all of that especially when Sacramento has such an active recycling program.
At the end of every year there are all kinds of lists put together to add up the facts and figures of the previous 365 days. Among the popular lists are the top 10 picks from critics for favorite movies, television shows and recordings. There are also some dubious lists that are put out each year such as the list of which are the most popular cars that thieves have stolen. That particular list is provided by the National Insurance Crime Bureau who is a nonprofit insurance organization monitoring crime statistics from around the country. While you might think that car thieves are just on the lookout for the fast and furious cars like BMW or Jaguar the truth is that the most popular cars to steal are also the most common cars on the road. This is because the car thieves are stealing these automobiles to strip them down for their parts and not necessarily resell them.

When was the last time you called the Sacramento office of city auditor just to check in to see how they were doing? Probably never, right? The office of city auditor handles all the bookkeeping for the city of Sacramento. That office is located right alongside the Mayor’s office and all the offices of the city Council. There are dozens of other offices that make up the city’s local government organization. It might just be interesting to check in on these offices to see how organized they really are. After all, in some way you’re paying for these offices with your tax dollars which means in a roundabout way that these are your offices, too. Naturally, you won’t be able to show up one day and claim a desk for yourself but you do have the right to know that things are running as efficiently as possible. Of course, if you agree to make the demand that the city of Sacramento has their offices in order, first you have to start with your own office.
Up here in Sacramento spring cleaning means many things to many people. Over in Mount Shasta they recently held a Sisson Meadow spring cleaning event where volunteers were asked to help “remove invasive plant life from meadow.” They were also told to “bring gloves, shovel, pruning shears and loping shears.” That sounds like a fun day and imagine the pleasure you could take from reclaiming a meadow. Clearly this would give you first right at the perfect picnic spot.
