The Virginia Historical Society recently indulged in a one-of-a-kind treat: They opened a time capsule that had been sealed for 100 years. Among the 100 items stored in the capsule were wartime Confederate documents, the Great Seal of the Confederacy and other postwar keepsakes. There were blueprints for the Confederate Memorial Institute which ultimately became home for the historical society itself.
