When do you know if you’re a hoarder or not? Hopefully, it won’t get to the point of having a reality TV crew knocking on your front door. However, there are some “red flags” that you should be away off in terms of crossing over the line towards becoming a full fledge hoarder.
One of the biggest warning signs is that you’re holding onto a lot of stuff that most people would already throw away. The obvious culprits are old magazines or newspapers. It’s one thing if you’re a memorabilia collector who is holding onto milestone issues but if you’re just keeping piles of papers and old People magazines for the sake of keeping them you’re not doing yourself any favors. The same can be said for junk mail, clothes or anything in your home that is broken. Even if you swear you’re going to wear that old sweater or fix that chair someday you’re probably just fooling yourself. It’s junk, right?
Holding onto useless items is one thing. But when it has gotten to the point that certain areas of your home have become inhabitable then you’re entering into serious hoarding territory. Maybe you’ve got so much stuff piled up on a bed that you can only sleep on half of it. Perhaps your dining room table is cluttered with so much junk that you can’t even sit down to enjoy a holiday meal. When it has reached the point that you’re embarrassed to invite friends over then you’ve got to think about why you’re holding onto the stuff. If you simply can’t part with anything then you should seek professional help. But if it is just a matter of getting some help in the form of a junk removal specialist then that is easy to fix: all you have to do is call Junk King Monterey.
Ever since Junk King opened for business in the Santa Cruz area they have been helping folks break the hoarding spell and obtain a junk free existence. Working with Junk King will put a two man crew at your command. You can show them all the junk you want removed and they’ll take it from there. Whether that junk is out in the garage or up in the attic, the Junk King crew will pull it out and load it up on their truck. That’s the other big plus with Junk King: their big truck. You don’t have to bother with renting a van to get rid of your stuff. No matter what you’re throwing out, there will be room on the back of the Junk King truck.
When you hire Junk King you’ll have no more excuses. Get your house cleaned out today!
The best approach to a successful move can be summed up in three words: labels, labels and labels. Beyond labeling something as fragile, you should also be thinking about labeling your boxes for destinations and items. You don’t have to include a detailed inventory but wouldn’t it be great to know which box holds your cups and coffee maker? That’s going to come in extremely handy the morning after the move.
Do you know where your garbage ends up? Sadly for a lot of people in Santa Cruz they just don’t care. The result has been the creation of infamous floating garbage patch that is making its way around the North Pacific. Fortunately, there is a Santa Cruz nonprofit group called Clean Oceans Project that is determined to do something about that. They are working with a Japanese manufacturer to develop a plastic-to-fuel technology that can be put to work in the Monterey Bay. If all goes according to plan a specially designed solar powered catamaran will cruise the waters gobbling up fishing nets, plastic bags and Styrofoam. It will then funnel that garbage into a high temperature cooker to convert that litter into fuel. That fuel will then allow that boat to travel further and collect even more garbage until the Monterey Bay is completely clean. It’s an ambitious project that is getting a lot of attention and should be something that is on the radar of everyone living in Santa Cruz.
