Junk King Katy Junk Removal Eviction Management

Help Managing the Eviction Moratorium for Landlords

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone in some form or another. It’s stressful whether you’re an executive of a Fortune 500 company, a small business owner, or an employee just trying to make ends meet in these unprecedented and unpredictable times. If you’re a landlord, your stress load may be even worse due to the moratorium on evictions. When it was in effect, it was vital that you understood what this moratorium did and what actions you could take to keep your rental properties active and generate income. Now that most eviction moratoriums have expired, it helps to have a trash removal partner like Junk King on your side so you can get vacant rentals back on the market quickly.

The Federal Eviction Moratorium

Junk King Katy Eviction MoratoriumWhen Congress passed the CARES Act in March of 2020, one of the most important items in the act was to pause all evictions until July 2020. This meant that those who had lost their jobs or lost a substantial amount of income due to closed businesses could not lose their housing. This came early in the pandemic when non-essential businesses were closing for lockdown.

This eviction moratorium went into effect on March 27, 2020. It stated that qualified tenants couldn’t be evicted from properties during the moratorium. Landlords could also not file eviction notices until 30 days after the end of the moratorium, nor could banks file for foreclosure on any property. The end date was set as July 24, which means no evictions could be filed until August 23, 2020.

According to the bill, a qualified tenant was anyone who was renting a property that was associated with any type of federal funding or assistant program. This means if you, as the landlord, had purchased the property with a federally backed loan or were enrolled in any type of federally funded assistant program, you were subject to the moratorium. Experts estimated that this applied to anywhere from a quarter to almost half of all rental properties across the country.

The CDC Extensions Changed the Rules

When the CARES Act eviction moratorium expired on July 24, the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stepped in and implemented their own moratorium. They cited a section of the Public Health Service Act to do so. This was legally challenged, but the Supreme Court upheld the moratorium.

This moratorium applied to any tenant who met specific criteria. Those who made under a certain income level and had made a good-faith effort to receive rental assistance from the government could file paperwork asking for eviction protection.

The CDC eviction and foreclosure moratorium was extended several times. The most recent extension was made on August 3, 2021, following the previous extension expiring July 31. This extension was planned to expire on October 3. However, the Supreme Court heard arguments to overturn the moratorium and did just that on August 26, 2021. This decision ended the federal eviction moratorium for landlords and tenants.

Eviction in Texas

Following the end of the federal moratorium on August 26, evictions in Texas resumed. While there’s no state-level halt on evictions, numerous resources are available for landlords and tenants. One such eviction and foreclosure resource was the Texas Eviction Diversion Program. Landlords and tenants were able to request assistance for rent and utility bills. However, there was a maximum amount of funds for this program, and applications are no longer accepted as of December 14, 2021.

Other Eviction and Foreclosure Resources

As a landlord, you don’t want to give any tenant an eviction notice. Evicting tenants can be a long, troublesome legal effort, and it costs money. Fortunately, there are both foreclosure resources and assistance for landlords and tenants. These resources can help your tenants pay rent, and some may even assist you directly.

However, there are going to be cases where you have to evict a tenant, just like there were before the pandemic. Some tenants may have damaged the home beyond repair or were constantly late in paying rent even when they were working full-time. If you have to handle an eviction, it’s vital that you consult with an attorney to make certain you do everything legally. While the federal moratorium on evictions has ended, for now, the COVID-19 crisis is still ongoing. It’s possible another moratorium may be imposed at the state or federal level. You want to make certain that you’re complying with all current laws and regulations if you have to evict someone.

Dealing with an Eviction

If you have had to evict a client, you have to be ready for what they will do to your property. Tenants who are being evicted may no longer care about respecting the property, and some may intentionally damage it or even steal things from the property. Landlords have walked into properties after evicting the tenants to find appliances, and light fixtures have been taken and sold. In extreme cases, angry tenants may even strip the copper wires out of the walls.

In other instances, however, these evicted tenants don’t take things. Instead, they leave things. They may simply stop taking out the garbage, so you have to deal with it. They might unplug the refrigerator, so the food in it expires. Other times, they may take what they want and leave behind the rest of their possessions, including furniture. You never know what you’re going to walk into when you evict someone from a rental property.

What Do You Do with this Junk?

If someone leaves property behind, you do need to make certain you understand your legal obligations. You may need to notify the tenants, hold their possessions for a certain amount of time, and follow other regulations. That doesn’t mean you have to let their expired food remain in the refrigerator or the garbage bags stay where they are. However, for a property that is obviously not trashed, you do need to make an attempt to notify the tenant. You may also want to include a section on abandoned property in your leases. Be certain to run your lease by a lawyer to make certain they are legally sound and consult with an expert in Texas landlord-tenant laws before you dispose of a tenant’s property.

What We Take

Our junk removal team can take just about anything. The only thing we cannot deal with is hazardous waste. We can haul away large pieces of furniture and appliances, including hot tubs, and we will take televisions and other electronics. Of course, we also take bagged-up garbage and yard waste. If you’ve been doing some renovations to the home, we can even haul away your construction waste for you. Our large trucks are capable of hauling away a large amount of stuff at once, so we can often do everything in one load.

Donations and Recycling

Junk King firmly believes in protecting the environment and reducing our impact on the planet. To that end, we recycle or donate everything that we can. When you hire us for our clean-out services, you don’t need to sort out recyclables or items that are still in good condition. We will do that after we’ve picked everything up. If it’s something in good condition, we will send it to one of our local donation partners. Often, foreclosure and eviction furniture is still usable, and we want to make certain it continues to be used instead of going to a landfill.

Six Dumpster Rental Tips to Make the Most of Your Rental

When you rent a dumpster, you want to ensure you’re getting the most out of that rental. After all, no one has money to throw around. Renting a dumpster can be the best option if you have a lot of garbage you need to get rid of. It may even make more sense to use a dumpster instead of a junk removal service at times. Here are six dumpster rental tips to help you get the most out of the dumpster, so you don’t waste any time or money. You’ll be able to quickly and easily complete your project while sticking to your budget.

1. Should You Rent a Dumpster or a Hire Junk Removal Service?

Sometimes, renting a dumpster is the right option. Other times, though, junk removal may be more cost-effective. The first tip to making the most of your dumpster, then, is to be sure that it’s the right option. There are a few questions you can ask yourself to determine if it is.

First, how much trash and other junk do you have? If you only have a few pieces of furniture or an old appliance or two, dumpster rental probably isn’t right for you. Instead, Junk King can pick up these items and haul them away via our regular junk removal services. This is likely the better financial option, plus you don’t have to do any work, and we will come in and haul everything away.

Second, do you have all of the junk ready to go? If so, again, junk removal may be the best option. You know what you want to get rid of, so all you need to do is point it out. On the other hand, you may still have some things you need to go through. You may want to rip up flooring, take down cabinets, or make other remodeling changes. Instead of letting this debris pile up, it makes more sense to have a dumpster on hand so you can throw it all away. If you’re doing a DIY renovation or a major clean-out of an attic, basement, or hoarder home, a dumpster is likely your best option.

2. Find the Right Sized Dumpster

Once you’ve decided that a dumpster is the best option, you need to decide on the right size dumpster. There are several different dumpster sizes out there, but you typically don’t need the largest size possible for a home. These giant dumpsters are usually aimed at businesses or full renovations. If you select a dumpster that’s too large, you’ll pay for a lot of empty space. You can save a good amount of money by selecting the right size.

How do you do that? You’ll first need to estimate how much junk and other debris you have to get rid of. If you’re cleaning out a basement or other room, you’ll want to consider the furniture in that room as well as how many bags of trash you’ll have. If you’re doing a DIY remodel, you’ll have the debris you’re getting rid of, plus any packaging and other trash that comes from your new flooring, cabinets, etc.

Now take a look at what options are available. You may find that all you need is one of the smaller dumpsters. Our standard dumpster holds 12 cubic yards of junk here at Junk King. That’s a huge amount that can easily hold a few rooms’ worth of junk. It’s perfect for spring cleaning or redoing your kitchen. This dumpster is also perfect for driveways, and it won’t crack the concrete or damage your driveway in any way.

3. Know What You Can Put in a Dumpster

While dumpsters are designed for trash and other junk, you can’t put everything in them. Dumpsters can withstand a lot of weight and can hold many different materials, but there are some things that you shouldn’t put in them. If you rent your dumpsters from Junk King, the only real limit is on hazardous waste. You cannot put anything hazardous in our dumpsters due to the risk this waste poses to our crew. If you have something hazardous, we can help you find the right hazardous waste disposal company.

Other than hazardous waste, we can take most everything else. You can use our trash removal service or dumpster rental to get rid of furniture, appliances, old mattresses, televisions, hot tubs, construction debris, and much more. If you’re ever uncertain about an item, ask. We will let you know if it’s appropriate for our dumpsters and, if it’s not, we’ll help you find a way of disposing of it.

4. Have a Plan

Before you rent your dumpster, you want to be sure you’re ready for it. Junk King rents dumpsters for three, five, or seven days. If you want to keep your budget small and only have the dumpster for three days, you will need to be ready to get right to work.

This means you’ll need to have a plan. First, you will most likely need to have three full days to dedicate to your DIY project or clean-out. You may need to take off work or plan the project over a long weekend. Second, you may need to have a few friends or your family ready to help. The more people involved, the faster the project will go, and the less time you’ll need the dumpster.

Do as much before you get the dumpster as possible. Whether you have a spring cleaning plan or you’re cleaning out the garage, attic, or other space, start your organizing early if you can. Sort out stuff you know you want to get rid of. This works best if you have a space you can designate for to-keep items and a spot for trash. If that’s not possible, you may need to spend the first day of your dumpster rental getting rid of enough trash to have space for what you want to keep.

If you find that you can’t complete your project in the time you’ve allotted, we can extend your rental. Just give us a call and let us know.

5. Know How Much You’ll Be Charged

The last thing you want is for your affordable dumpster rental to become less affordable by the inclusion of hidden fees and other charges. Some unscrupulous companies out there will include extra fees at the end, often without much of an explanation as to what those fees are. Junk King never does this. Our estimates are always as complete as possible, and there is never any obligation or cost for a quote.

We charge based on how much of the dumpster you use. When we pick up your roll off dumpster trailer, we’ll measure how much junk you’ve put in it. You’ll pay the flat rental fee plus the cost of how much you’ve added to the dumpster. If you’ve used very little space, you won’t pay much more than the minimum charge. If you’ve used about half of it, you’ll pay the medium fee. If the dumpster is full, you pay the maximum amount. All of these fees plus any extras, such as excessive weight, will be presented to you upfront. You’ll know exactly what you’re paying.

Dumpster Rental FAQs for Dumpster Rental in Katy

Getting rid of junk can be done in a few different ways. You can simply throw the junk in your city garbage bin. If it’s too large for that, you can put it out for collection on bulky trash day. Another option is to call Junk King to haul away all this garbage. This is a good option if you have too much bulk trash for the city to pick up. They do limit how much they will collect.

But what if you need to sort through a lot of stuff to determine if it’s good or if it’s trash? You then have to find a place to pile up all the trash. You may not have that space, especially if you’ve got a lot of stuff going in the trash pile. In that case, you should consider dumpster rental in Katy. With a dumpster, you can take your time going through everything. You have a place to throw the trash that doesn’t take up any room in the garage or other part of the house, too.

If you’re thinking about renting a dumpster, you may have some questions. Here are some of the most common ones we get about dumpster rental in Katy, TX, and the answers to them.

Junk King Katy Dumpster FAQ

When is Dumpster Rental in Katy the Right Solution?

When is renting a dumpster the right solution? A lot of people do ask this question. If you have a few bags of trash and one or two pieces of furniture, you probably don’t need to rent a full dumpster. If you’ve got all the trash bagged up, you can probably look into Katy junk removal services instead of dumpster rentals.

Typically, we suggest you rent a dumpster when you have a large about of stuff you need to go through and no place to really separate it out. If you’ve just inherited a house that’s full of stuff, you may need to take some time to sort through each room. This is especially true if the house contains a lot of stuff. You may also face a similar situation if you’ve decided to purge your attic or basement. You may have so much stuff down there that you just don’t know what to do with any of it. This type of paralysis can lead to simply closing the door and pretending the junk isn’t there.

Let’s face it, though: ignoring the junk doesn’t make it go away. Instead, this is the ideal time to look at dumpster rental in Katy, TX. You can look at something, decide if it’s trash, and take it immediately out to the dumpster if it is. Once you get rid of some stuff, you now have space to put the items you want to keep.

What Can You Put in a Dumpster?

You can put a lot of stuff in a dumpster. However, each dumpster rental company does have their own rules. When it comes to Junk King, you can put just about anything in our dumpsters. Garbage, trash, and yard waste are certainly acceptable, but we also take furniture and appliances. You can even put televisions and other electronic waste in your dumpster. If you have any questions about what we will take, just ask. You can call or even text us pictures of the junk in question. Anything we take with our standard junk removal services can be put into one of our dumpsters.

New call-to-action

What Can You NOT Put in a Dumpster?

While we will haul away just about anything, we cannot take any items that could harm our team. Hazardous waste cannot be placed in our dumpsters. This includes dangerous chemicals, gasoline, and a number of other items. If you have any questions about whether or not something is dangerous, please call us before you put it in the dumpster.

Always be careful when putting anything in the dumpster, even if it’s not classified as hazardous waste. Broken glass, broken wood, and other things can be dangerous to you. We take caution when dealing with dumpsters, and we recommend all of our clients do so as well.

How to Rent a Dumpster

If you’ve decided that renting a dumpster in Katy, Brookshire, East Bernard, or Cypress is the right solution, your next question may be how to rent a dumpster. Fortunately, it’s very easy. Just give Junk King a call and let us know that you need a dumpster. We will go over all of the information you need to know and answer any questions you may have. If you decide you want the dumpster, we will schedule the drop-off and the pick-up times. Then we deliver the dumpster to you. It’s that simple.

What’s the Best Way to Make Use of a Dumpster?

When you have a dumpster on-site, you may be tempted to start throwing trash straight into it. However, if you do this, you may find that you fill up the dumpster more quickly than you thought you would. That’s because there may be some empty spaces down in the pile of garbage that you can’t see from the top.

While it’s not always possible, whenever you can, you want to fill the dumpster efficiently and make use of every inch of space. This means you should start with the largest stuff, such as furniture and appliances, first. Once you have these big, bulky items on the bottom, you can start filling in around them with smaller trash. You don’t have to meticulously arrange the garbage, but if you see an empty spot, toss the next bag there instead of onto the pile of stuff at the other end of the dumpster.

Whenever possible, try to flatten or break down larger items. Boxes can be flattened or filled with other trash so there’s no wasted space. You may be able to disassemble some furniture and other items, too. Try to balance the weight if you can, and don’t over-fill the dumpster. We may have to remove some trash when we come to pick it up if there’s a risk of garbage falling off while in transit.

Why Rent a Dumpster from Junk King?

Junk King rents self-service dumpsters to both residential and commercial clients. These dumpsters are large enough to hold 12 cubic yards of waste but small and light enough that they won’t damage your driveway or sidewalk. While these dumpsters may not be as large as some of the massive commercial dumpsters you’ll see, they do hold a good amount of stuff. The majority of our clients are able to fit all of their garbage in this size, no matter what size of cleaning project you undertook.

We typically rent our dumpsters for three days. However, we do realize that some people interested in dumpster rental in Houston County do need more time than that. When you call, let us know that you’ll need more than three days. We will work with you to get you the dumpster you need for the right amount of time. If you finish up early, you can even call and have us come back before the scheduled pick-up time.

Cost of Katy Dumpster Rental

One thing that makes Junk King unique is how we handle pricing. If you look into dumpster rental in Katy, Bleiblerville, Kendleton, or other nearby areas, most of the companies want to charge you a flat fee. While that can be helpful, we see it as charging people for empty space.

That’s not how we work. Instead, we only charge you for the amount of the dumpster you use. If you only use half of it, you only pay for that. We’ll give you the quote for a full dumpster, but you can expect to pay less than that. We can estimate how much space you’ll use up if you’d like. Once you’re finished with the dumpster, we’ll calculate the volume and the final price.

We Recycle Much of the Trash in Our Dumpsters

In addition to taking anything that isn’t hazardous, we also strive to recycle as much as possible. We don’t take your dumpster straight to the landfill. Instead, we empty and sort it. Anything that is in good condition goes into our donation warehouse. We take these items to our local donation partners, which include charities, in order to help those in need.

After we sort out items to donate, we sort out anything that can be recycled. This includes paper, plastic, glass, and much more. We even work with companies that will break down furniture and mattresses into recyclable components. We truly believe in keeping the environment safe, and that means reducing what goes into the dump. We sort all of our dumpsters this way—there’s no extra charge to you. You also don’t have to do any sorting or tagging of items.

Getting Mattress Junk Removal in Katy TX

Old mattresses can be one of the most difficult items to get rid of. They’re large and awkward to deal with, to start, so getting rid of them isn’t quite as simple as trashing other items. Fortunately, you do have an option for mattress disposal in Katy, TX. Junk King handles mattresses, box springs, bedframes, and much, much more. If you’re looking for a full service junk removal team, we’re here for you. Here are a few things to consider when dealing with your old mattress.

Is Your Mattress Under Warranty?

Before you give us a call to dispose of your mattress, you may want to check to see if it’s still under warranty. Many Texas mattress makers in Katy do provide warranties. They can last anywhere from four or five years to ten or twelve. You may need to contact the manufacturer to find out the specifics.

If your mattress is damaged but still under warranty, it’s possible the manufacturer will handle everything. They may remove the old mattress and bring you a replacement at no cost to you. Some warranties only cover the replacement. If that’s the case, you’ll want to give Junk King a call and arrange to get rid of the mattress. If you’re looking for how to dispose of a futon mattress, the answers are often the same. Even though they’re usually smaller than a traditional mattress, they’re still usually treated the same.

Can You Sell a Used Mattress?

Selling used mattresses is an area of contention in many areas. Some states allow it, while others do not. Texas law does allow for the reselling of mattresses commercially. However, it’s not as simple as putting mattresses out on the showroom floor. Stores that sell used mattresses must have a permit to do so. The Texas Department of State Health Services has a number of regulations these businesses must follow in order to properly sell used mattresses.

First, the mattress must be cleaned using one of the different approved cleaning methods. These include chemical sprays and commercial laundering services. Businesses will have to pay for this, of course, and will add that cost to the price of the mattress. They can’t simply put a cover on the mattress to hide any stains, either. Covers must be removed.

You’re probably not starting a used mattress company, though, so can you sell your mattress online without doing any of this? You can but do be aware that many people may not want to buy a used mattress that has no guarantee. They will want to know that it comes from a clean home and is in good condition. You may be better off selling it to a business that resells mattresses. Be aware, though, that they may not offer much.

If your mattress is stained, old, or does not appear to be in good condition, they may also refuse to buy it. You may also need to have a way of taking it to the store. Some of these businesses do not offer pickup services.

 junk removal service recycling

Can You Recycle Your Mattress?

One question we often get is whether or not it’s possible to recycle a mattress. When some companies that handle junk removal in Katy TX pick up mattresses, they take them straight to the landfill just because it’s easy. Here at Junk King, however, we truly believe in recycling as much as possible. We do not want anything to go into the landfill unless there is absolutely no other option.

To that end, we are able to recycle some mattresses we collect. The full mattress isn’t recyclable as a unit, though. That’s why we work with recycling companies that disassemble old mattresses. They can take the stuffing, foam, and fabric from the mattress and recycle it. These companies can also break down box springs and recycle the wood and metal from them. There are many uses for these materials. The wood can be repurposed into mulch or particleboard. The springs can be melted down and transformed into just about any other metal component. Foam and fabric can be made into things such as stuffing or carpet underlay.

What About Donating Mattresses?

We also get asked about donating mattresses. Unfortunately, a number of charities and other organizations do not accept mattresses. This is because they do represent a health risk if they are not fully disinfected and cleaned. Some charities simply do not have the money to do so. Junk King does donate as much as possible to local organizations, but we often are not able to donate mattresses.

One reason why we often have to keep mattresses away from our other items marked for donation is due to bed bugs. Bed bugs are a major concern because once they get into a building, they can very quickly spread. They can live in other furniture, in carpet, and even get into the outlets and live in the walls. If you want to know how to dispose of a bed bug mattress, the only option is often to take it to the landfill. It’s often simply too difficult and risky to try to sterilize an infected mattress.

Junk King Katy How to Find Bed Bugs During the Day

How to Find Bed Bugs During the Day

Bed bugs are one of the worst infestations you can have, and many Bellville, New Ulm, Chappell Hill, and Katy junk removal companies won’t deal with them. If you suspect you have bed bugs, you do need to determine if they are still there before you try to have your mattress donated or even picked up as garbage. Here are a few tips on how to find bed bugs during the day.

First, it’s important to realize that finding and dealing with the bed bugs you can see isn’t going to help. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of them. You’re likely going to need professional help, but if the infestation isn’t too bad, you may be able to use sprays or traps.

Now, take a look around your bed. You’re looking for brownish spots about the size of an apple seed. They are long, wide, and fairly flat with six legs and two little antennae. You won’t find many of them around in the daytime or when the lights are on, so you may need to turn off the lights for a few hours. Enter the room with a flashlight and look around. In addition to finding the bugs, you may see their eggs, which look like very, very small pieces of rice. They’re typically laid in batches, which does make it easier to find them.

Look around the edge of the mattress, under your bed, in little cracks in the floor or wall, and any other very small, dark places. Sometimes the bed bugs will believe they are hidden in these places, but parts of their bodies will stick out.

While they’re called bed bugs, these insects can actually live in just about anything. This includes your carpet, sofas, chairs, and other furniture. However, they do prefer beds because they feed on you when you’re sleeping. Still, if you often nap on the couch or fall asleep in your favorite recliner, some bed bugs may take up residence there.

What Do You Do with a Mattress that has Bed Bugs?

In most cases, people simply throw away the mattress. While it’s possible to kill bed bugs, many people find the idea of sleeping in a bed where bed bugs lived disgusting. They would rather toss the mattress and visit one of the many mattress stores in Katy, Hempstead, or Beasley to purchase a new bed. Recycling centers will not want to contaminate new items with bed bug debris, either. Typically, it’s best to just dispose of these mattresses.

 Bigger Trucks

Junk King is Here to Handle Your Junk Removal in Katy TX

Due to its size and shape, getting rid of a mattress on your own can be difficult. You may not have a truck large enough to haul it to the landfill or recycling center. While the city does pick up bulky trash once a month, you may not want to wait that long. This is especially true if your mattress is infested with bed bugs. You need it out immediately.

That’s where Junk King comes in. Our team of professionals is here to remove old mattresses and much more. We can help you dispose of furniture, appliances, yard waste, DIY remodel debris, and anything else as long as it isn’t classified as hazardous waste. Plus, you can also rent a dumpster to help haul away your unwanted items.

We Recycle and Donate as Much as Possible

Junk King Katy is dedicated to recycling or donating as much as we possibly can, including mattresses. We hate to see anything go to the landfill. To that end, we’re recycling or donating more than 90 percent of everything we pick up. With mattresses, those in good condition are donated, while those that have reached the end of their lifecycle are sent to recycling facilities.

If you have any questions about what Junk King can do for you or would like to book a free quote, call 1-888-888-JUNK or text us at 1-737-888-5865. Often, we can bring the big truck with us when we come to give you an estimate, so we can get to work right away.

Junk King Katy Junk Removal

Types of Junk Removed by Junk King Katy

When junk starts to pile up in your Katy, TX, home, you need to do something about it. Keeping garbage, including old appliances and furniture, takes up valuable space you could use for other things. While you could haul away this garbage yourself, it’s much easier and often actually more affordable to call Junk King Katy. We handle all types of junk removal in Katy. Whether you have a few old items or need to clean out an entire property, we can help. Here are some of the items we can haul away as well as some reasons why Junk King should be your first and only call.

New call-to-action

Garbage and other Debris

If you have garbage bagged up and ready to go, we’ll take it. Sometimes, you may have too much garbage for your city bins to hold. You don’t want to keep this trash in your home, especially if you have so much that it would take weeks to get rid of it all a few bags at a time. Even if you leave it in the garage, it can attract bugs and create a horrible smell. It could also be a safety hazard if the trash contains food or anything that is highly flammable.

Besides bagged up garbage, we also take yard waste and construction debris. If you’ve had to cut down trees, trim hedges, or deal with any other yard work, you need to get rid of that debris somehow. Again, you may have too much for city garbage services to be a solution. We’ll take yard waste as well as most debris from DIY home renovation and remodel projects. We will even haul away debris from old sheds and other structures.

Old Furniture

Old furniture can also be difficult to get rid of because it’s so big. While Katy trash services will pick up bulky garbage periodically, it can be easy to miss the pickup date. Then you’re stuck with the furniture for another month. If you’ve purchased new furniture and are having it delivered, the delivery service may be able to take your old furniture. However, this isn’t always an option, and it could cost you.

Junk King will pick up any old furniture, no matter how large or bulky. We take sofas, chairs, mattresses, and much more. This gets the furniture out of your home and gives you space for new items. Again, leaving old furniture in the garage or even outdoors can lead to problems. Mice and other rodents may take up residence in your old couch or chair. If it’s outdoors, rain and other weather will start to damage the furniture. This can quickly ruin your home’s curb appeal, plus it can create dangers for kids and pets.

What about furniture that’s still useful? If you’re replacing some older furniture that can still be used, we will still come pick it up. However, we won’t take this furniture to the dump. Instead, if it’s gently used, we will donate the items to a local charity or other organization that works with those in need. This means your old furniture will go to someone who needs it or to furnish a homeless shelter.

Appliances

Getting rid of refrigerators, washing machines, ovens, dryers, and other appliances can be a pain. In some cases, such as with washing machines, ovens, and dryers, you can set them out for bulky waste pickup or take them to a recycling center or landfill. If you don’t have a truck, Junk King will pick them up for you.

Dealing with refrigerators, freezers, and anything else that contains refrigerant, however, is more difficult. The refrigerants in these appliances cannot be put in a landfill due to the damage they can do to the environment. In some cases, you can call an EPA bounty program to deal with these chemicals. Bounty programs take appliances that contain refrigerant and recycle them. They safely remove the chemicals before doing so, of course. Some offer rebates you can use on Energy Star appliances that use less power.

We will take care of having the refrigerant removed by a licensed company that can safely recycle or dispose of it. Once that’s done, we will turn over the refrigerator to a recycling center that can break it down and recycle much of the metal and other components. Everything will be done safely so that no harmful chemicals are released.

Hot Tub Disposal

Hot tubs are large, bulky, and can be a chore to move. Even if you have a truck, you may not be able to fit the hot tub in it. Junk King will take care of these large items, quickly taking them apart and moving them into our truck. Our team has the manpower needed to move hot tubs safely. No one will be injured, and nothing near the hot tub or along the path from its location to our truck will be damaged.

Once we’ve loaded up the hot tub, we will make certain that it is properly disposed of. Some hot tubs can be recycled, so we will take yours to the correct facility. We do our best to make certain everything we collect is dealt with in the most eco-friendly way possible. There is some metal in hot tubs that can be sent to a scrap metal recycling plant, and there’s some plastic that can also be recycled.

Note that many city disposal services and other junk haulers won’t take hot tubs. They’re simply too large and bulky to fit in most trucks. Junk King, however, has the equipment needed to haul away these large items.

Mattresses

While many people don’t change their mattress as often as is recommended (every eight years), your bed will eventually wear out. Mattresses go through a lot during their lifespan, and typically, by the time you’re ready to get rid of it, there’s not much life left. Most mattresses, then, are simply disposed of. Few organizations will accept donated used mattresses due to the fear of bed bugs and other potentially dangerous germs.

Some mattresses can be recycled or contain recyclable materials that we remove. Box springs also can often be broken down and recycled. This is important because many dump sites will not accept mattresses due to chemical components. However, we do have established partners in the Katy area who help us break down, recycle, and dispose of old mattresses and box springs.

Electronic Waste

Getting rid of old cell phones, computers, monitors, televisions, and other electronic items can also be fairly difficult. Many of these items contain batteries, coolant, and other components that can damage the environment. There are some electronic stores that will take your old items and safely dispose of them, but for some, that’s not always an option. While you can take an old cell phone in, you may not be able to load up old televisions. Some of these older monitors and TVs are very heavy and bulky.

Another reason to keep E-waste out of the landfill is that it contains a good amount of recyclable materials. Copper, gold, silver, and other metals are used in circuit boards and other components. These raw materials can be removed and recycled. This isn’t an insignificant amount, either—in 2016, a study estimated that around $22 billion dollars of gold was thrown away worldwide.

Junk King will pick up your old electronic waste and get it to the correct recycling center. These centers will remove and recycle all of the metals and safely dispose of any batteries or dangerous chemicals.

What We Don’t Take

What we don’t take is a very short list. If it’s hazardous or contains hazardous waste, we can’t haul it away. Other than that, there’s not much we don’t deal with. If you have any questions, you can always reach out and ask if we can take certain items.

We Work with Businesses, Too

In addition to picking up garbage and other items from residential homes, we also work with businesses. We will pick up junk from your renovated office, your new storefront, or from apartment complexes. We work with real estate agents to clean out foreclosed homes and landlords to clean up rental properties. Business owners often don’t have the time or the manpower to spend cleaning up trash and hauling away junk. We can come in and take care of these tasks in less time while your team focuses on what they do best.

Junk King Truck for Junk King Katy

What Makes Junk King Ideal for Katy Junk Removal?

Junk removal in Katy can be a chore, especially if you have a large amount of garbage or some really heavy appliances to get rid of. Hauling this junk away yourself can take a lot of time and effort. You may have to borrow someone’s truck or get several people together to move the heavy stuff. Why not bring in the experts? Junk King of Katy, Texas, is here to help you with all of your junk hauling needs. If you’re ready to get rid of broken appliances, old furniture, yard debris, and other garbage, give us a call. Here are a few of the reasons why we’re the ideal team to deal with your junk removal needs.

We’re Professionals

It may not seem like moving junk from your home to a truck is something that requires a professional, but it does. First of all, moving bulky, awkwardly shaped items is always a chore. You could accidentally hurt yourself or damage your property while doing so. For example, you might scratch up a door or damage the paint on the wall while trying to rotate a large freezer to get it outside.

Second, many old appliances and pieces of furniture are heavy. You could injure your back if you try lifting something that’s too heavy for you. You could also drop one of these old appliances. If it lands on your foot, it could fracture or break bones. Our team of professionals understands how to carefully rotate and position large items to move them safely through doorways, hallways, and rooms. We can do so without injuring ourselves or damaging the property.

We also have the necessary equipment to make moving these appliances and other items easier. We have dollies, shoulder straps, moving blankets, and other items that make moving heavy, bulky items safer and easier. At the end of our visit, your home will be in perfect shape, and there will be no injuries to deal with.

We Have the Trucks Necessary to Haul Huge Amounts of Junk

If you’re thinking about hauling away junk on your own, you may have to start by finding a truck. Even with a truck, you may still have to make multiple loads to the landfill to get rid of everything. You could try to find someone with a trailer so you can take more at once, but depending on where you are, that may be very difficult.

When we come to haul away your junk, we will come in one of our large trucks. In most cases, we can take everything in one load. We’ve been able to do entire homes in one trip. This cuts down on the amount of time the junk is sitting in your home and on your costs. Let us know how much bulk garbage you have in your home, and we can determine how many truckloads it may take to get rid of it all. In most cases, it won’t be more than one or two.

We can also bring a dumpster to your home if you know you’ll be throwing things away over the course of a few days. We have various dumpster rental options available, so you can have the dumpster for the right amount of time without feeling rushed. All you have to do is call and let us know how long you’ll need to rent the dumpster. We deliver and pick it up once you’re finished.

Bigger Trucks

 We Work on Your Schedule

Junk often takes up a lot of space. Old appliances, worn furniture, DIY project debris, and more can add up. It might not seem like a big deal to put that old refrigerator out in your garage until you can deal with it, but all too often, these temporary solutions last much longer than they should. You may have planned on getting rid of the fridge in a week or so, but then something gets put in front of it or you forget to move it out for the city’s bulky trash pickup. The next thing you know, it’s been a few months and more things are now blocking it in. Before long, that part of your garage is just where the dead refrigerator lives. You’ve given up that space to garbage.

Don’t let this happen. Junk King will come to you when you need us. All you have to do is give us a call, text us, or make a reservation online. You pick the day and the time, and we will be there. We will get rid of whatever junk you need us to so that you never give up an inch of useable space. Don’t store junk—let us haul it off instead.

Heavy Lifting, Without Moving A Muscle

Same Day Junk Removal

In many cases, you won’t even need to wait for us to come pick up your junk. If you ask us to come in person to give you an estimate, we will often bring one of our large trucks with us. If you decide to accept our quote, we can get right to work. There’s no need to make a second appointment or have us come back later. We will load up whatever junk you need and take it right then and there. If we do need to come back for whatever reason, we will do our best to do so as quickly as possible.

We Take Nearly Everything

Some junk removal companies will not pick up certain items. The City of Katy’s heavy trash program also limits what they can take, plus they only allow you to put out a set number of items and will only collect what they classify as “super heavy trash” four times a year.

Junk King, on the other hand, has very few limits. The only thing we won’t collect is hazardous waste. We will pick up refrigerators, hot tubs, electronic waste, yard waste, and much more. There’s no limit to how much we will take at once, either, except for the size of our trucks. We will make a second load or bring a second truck for very large jobs.

Have an item you’re not sure we can take? Just give us a call or text a photo of it to us. We will let you know right away whether it’s something we can haul off. In most cases, the answer will be yes! If there is something hazardous that we can’t handle, we may be able to recommend someone who can.

New call-to-action

We Care About the Environment

Junk King is an ideal partner for anyone who wants to minimize their impact on the environment. Households produce a lot of garbage every day, even if you work hard to decrease what goes in the bin. Old furniture, appliances, and other bulky waste often can’t easily be recycled. After all, you can’t exactly fit a washing machine or a chair in your residential recycling bin.

When you call on Junk King to come haul away garbage, we will sort items into three categories. First, we will pull out any furniture that’s in good condition and appliances that still work. These items will be donated to local Katy charities and other organizations that help those in need. They will see to it that anything that can still be used is used. This reduces the number of new products that need to be made while also keeping items out of the landfill.

Next, we pull out anything that can be recycled. This includes paper, plastic, untreated wood, and other items. We do our best to break down furniture and other large items into recyclable parts, but that’s not always an option. In addition to recycling standard recyclable materials, we also handle electronic recycling, including televisions, computer monitors, and other devices. Once we have sorted out the recycling, we take it to a local recycling plant.

junk removal service recycling

Finally, the remaining junk is, unfortunately, just junk. There’s nothing that can be reused or recycled. This is what we take to the landfill. However, typically this pile is smaller than the other two. We generally donate or recycle around 60 percent of everything we collect.

The Quick and Easy Junk King Experience

If you’ve got junk you’re ready to see hauled off, whether it’s to a second life or not, we make the process as quickly and easily as possible. You don’t even need to move your old appliances or furniture out of your home. Just call, text, or message us online for a free, no-obligation quote. You can also request that we come out and take a look at what you need hauled away. As mentioned earlier, we’ll bring the truck and can take the junk away as soon as you approve the quote!

We want to help you keep your home uncluttered and make the most out of your space. That means removing any junk that’s not actively doing anything for you. When you call us, you can ensure that you will deal with “super friendly and professional people.” Previous clients have also commented on our speed and on our fair pricing. If you’re ready to see for yourself what Junk King can do, give us a call at 1-888-888-JUNK.
