Cleaning up parks has its own reward and you can see it clearly on a bright summer day when folks turn out to enjoy the surroundings. Back in 2012, a group of volunteers formed the Park Ridge Green Team and set out to pick up debris from Pascack and Mill Brooks plus the Mill Pond. By the end of the day they had gathered up 760 pounds of trash and over 500 pounds of recyclables. That didn’t stop there. The following year, the team reached out to neighboring Rockland communities for a bigger cleanup day. That lead to 173 volunteers showing up to pitch in and 2,500 pounds of trash being collected. Clearly, this is a group who loves cleaning up. As a result of their hard work the Green Team was given a special award from the state.
