Another potential hazard, and one that is far more common, is old construction debris. This could be left over from a remodel that you did on the kitchen or bathroom years ago, or just a pile of old boards and other debris from repair projects. However, it can also have rusty nails, exposed rebar or glass shards, or jagged wire and other metal pieces.
Certainly not a great place for the kids to be playing around.
