In addition, because many furniture items are composed of a variety of materials, these often need to be dismantled first.

Some materials are easily recycled, while others such as certain foam padding materials, require special handling. For example, all steel or aluminum parts can be used for scrap metal, while most wood furniture can be accepted for recycling purposes.

However, like most items that are likely constructed of mixed materials, it’s always best to call first before hauling your old furniture to an East Bay waste transfer station facility or landfill.
